Al-Kāfi - The Book of Adjudication and Rules َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) فِي رَجُلٍ أَكَلَ وَأَصْحَابٌ لَهُ شَاةً فَقَالَ إِنْ أَكَلْتُ٠ُوهَا فَهِيَ لَكُ٠ْ تَأْكُلُوهَا فَعَلَيْكُ٠ْ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَضَى فِيهِ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ بَاطِلٌ لا شَيْ‏ءَ فِي الْ٠11.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yusuf ibn ‘Aqif from Muhammad ibn Qays who has narrated the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that about the case of a man who had a sheep told his people, ‘If you eat all of it, it then is yours; but if you could not eat, then you must pay such and such amount.’ ’ Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali, issued a judgment that said, ‘It is invalid.

There is nothing in eating food, more or less’; and he (the Imam) prohibited it.” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (4/300))
