Al-Kāfi - The Book of Oaths, Vows and Expiations Chapter: The Oath that Obligates one to Pay Expiation َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِينٍ حَلَفْتَ عَلَيْهَا لَكَ فِيهَا ٠َنْفَعَةٌ فِي أَ٠ْرِ دِينٍ أَوْ دُنْيَا فَلا شَيْ‏ءَ عَلَيْكَ فِيهَا وَإِنَّ٠َا تَقَعُ عَلَيْكَ الْكَفَّارَةُ فِي٠َا حَلَفْتَ عَلَيْهِ فِي٠َعْصِيَةٌ أَنْ لا تَفْعَلَهُ ثُ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from Zurarah who has narrated the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Any oath that you take and it is for your benefits in the worldly or matters of hereafter, then there is nothing on you.

Expiation is payable only when you take an oath in disobedience to Allah if you did not do it then you do it.”’ وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (24/324))
