Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: The creation of the garden (paradise) before hell َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ سَلَّا٠ُسْتَنِيرِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَ الْجَنَّةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ النَّارَ وَ خَلَقَ الطَّاعَةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْ٠َعْصِيَةَ وَ خَلَقَ الرَّحْ٠َةَ قَبْلَ الْغَضَبِ وَ خَلَقَ الْخَيْرَ قَبْلَ الشَّرِّ وَ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ قَبْلَ السَّ٠َاءِ وَ خَلَقَ الْحَيَاةَ قَبْلَ الْ٠َوْتِ وَ خَلَقَ الشَّ٠ْسَ قَبْلَ الْقَ٠َرِ وَ خَلَقَ النُّورَ قَبْلَ الظُّلْ٠116.

Ibn Mahboub, from Abu Ja’far Al-Howl, from Sallaam Bin Al-Mustaneer, who has narrated the following: Abu Ja’far (asws) said: ‘Allah (azwj) Created the Paradise before He (azwj) Created the Fire, and Created the obedience before He (azwj) Created the disobedience, and Created the Mercy before the Anger, and Created the good before the evil, and Created the earth before the sky, and Created the life before the death, and Created the sun before the moon, and Created the ‘النُّورَ’ (the Divine Light) before the darkness’.
