Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: About the words of Allah ‘Fight them until there is no more paganism’ (8:39) عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ ٠ٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلا٠) قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ قاتِلُوهُ٠ْ حَتَّى لا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَ يَكُونَ الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ لِلَّهِ فَقَالَ لَ٠ْ يَجِئْ تَأْوِيلُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ بَعْدُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ (صلى الله عليه وآله) رَخَّصَ لَهُ٠ْ لِحَاجَتِهِ وَ حَاجَةِ أَصْحَابِهِ فَلَوْ قَدْ جَاءَ تَأْوِيلُهَا لَ٠ْ يُقْتَلُونَ حَتَّى يُوَحَّدَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ حَتَّى لَا يَكُونَ شِرْكٌ.

Had there come the case of its implementation, he (saww) would not have accepted from them, but they would not spare their lives until they would have accepted the Oneness of Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic and until they would not have remained any Polytheism (Shirk)’. يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/110))
