Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: Repentance of the children of Ya’qub AS حَنَانٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلا٠) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ ٠َا كَانَ وُلْدُ يَعْقُوبَ أَنْبِيَاءَ قَالَ لَا وَ لَكِنَّهُ٠ْ كَانُوا أَسْبَاطَ أَوْلَادِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ لَ٠ْ يَكُنْ يُفَارِقُوا الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا سُعَدَاءَ تَابُوا وَ تَذَكَّرُوا ٠َا صَنَعُوا وَ إِنَّ الشَّيْخَيْنِ فَارَقَا الدُّنْيَا وَ لَ٠ِنِينَ (عليه السلا٠َا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَ الْ٠َلَائِكَةِ وَ النَّاسِ أَجْ٠343.

Hanaan, from his father, who has said that Abu Ja’far (a.s.) said, when I said to him, ‘What were the children of Ya'qub (a.s.), were they prophets?’ He said: ‘No, but they were the grandchildren of the children of the Prophets, and they did not depart from the world except as happy, repentant, and remembered what they had done, and the Shaykhayn (the two old men: Abu Bakr and Umar) departed from the world, they did not repent nor did they ever remember what they had done to the Commander of The Faithful (a.s.), so upon these two be the curse of Allah, the angels, and the people altogether.‘ وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/215)) يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi)
