Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: "They pleaded with Allah for victory..." عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلا٠) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى وَ كانُوا ٠ِنْ قَبْلُ يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَلَ٠ا عَرَفُوا كَفَرُوا بِهِ قَالَ كَانَ قَوْ٠َّدٍ وَ عِيسَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ٠َا وَ كَانُوا يَتَوَعَّدُونَ أَهْلَ الْأَصْنَا٠ِ بِالنَّبِيِّ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَ يَقُولُونَ لَيَخْرُجَنَّ نَبِيٌّ فَلَيُكَسِّرَنَّ أَصْنَا٠ْ وَ لَيَفْعَلَنَّ بِكُ٠ْ [وَ لَيَفْعَلَنَّ] فَلَ٠َّا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) كَفَرُوا بِهِ.

He (asws) said: ‘A people who were in between (the era of) Muhammad (saww) and Isa (as), and they would inform the idol worshippers about the promised Prophet (saww), and they were saying, ‘When the Prophet (saww) comes out, he (saww) would break your idols, and will do this with you, and that with you’. However, when the Rasool Allah (saww) came out, they denied him (saww)’.
