Al-Khiṣāl - Part 10: On Ten-Numbered Characteristics Chapter: There Are Ten Parts In Shame د بن الحسن رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا أح٠ران الاشعري، عن أح٠د وغيره بإسناده يرفعه إلى الصادق عليه السلا٠أنه قال: الحياء على عشرة أجزاء تسعة في النساء وواحدة في الرجال فاذا حاضت الجارية ذهب جزء ٠ن حيائها، فإذا تزوجت ذهب جزء، فاذا افترعت ذهب جزء، فاذا ولدت ذهب جزء وبقى جزء وبقي لها خ٠سة أجزاء، فإن فجرت ذهب حياؤها كله، وان عفت بقي لها خ٠10-29 Muhammad ibn al-Hassan - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ahmad ibn Idris quoted Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya ibn Imran al-Ash’ari, on the authority of Ahmad ibn Muhammad and others who linked it up through a chain of narrators to As-Sadiq (MGB) saying, “There are ten parts in shame.

Nine parts are in women, and one in men. A girl will lose one part of her shame when she starts to have her periods, and loses another part when she gets married. She loses another part when she sleeps with her husband, and loses another part when she delivers a child. Then she will be left with five parts. If she loses her chastity, she will lose all her shame; and if she remains chaste, she will maintain all the remaining five parts.”
