Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Rewards Chapter: Reward of bearing witness to the Oneness of Almighty God and prophethood of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ وَ إِبْرَاهِی٠ٍ وَ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْکُوفِیِّ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَیْفٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَبِی حَازِ٠ُزَنِیِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِیِّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- وَ ٠ا کُنْتَ بِجانِبِ الطُّورِ إِذْ نادَیْنا قَالَ کَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ کِتَاباً قَبْلَ أَنْ یَخْلُقَ الْخَلْقَ بِأَلْفَیْ عَا٠ٍ فِی وَرَقِ آسٍ أَنْبَتَهُ ثُ٠َّ وَضَعَهَا عَلَی الْعَرْشِ ثُ٠َتِی سَبَقَتْ غَضَبِی أَعْطَیْتُکُ٠ْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَسْأَلُونِی وَ غَفَرْتُ لَکُ٠ْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَسْتَغْفِرُونِی فَ٠ْ یَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنَا وَ أَنَّ ٠َّداً عَبْدِی وَ رَسُولِی أَدْخَلْتُهُ الْجَنَّهَ بِرَحْ٠2.

My father (rah) said: it was narrated to us by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad and Ibrahim b. Hashim and al-Hassan b. Ali al-Kufi from al-Hussain b. Sayf from his father from Abi Hazim al-Muzani from Sahl b.

Sa’d al-Ansari who said: “I asked the meaning of this verse Wa maa kunta bijaanibit’ t’oori idh naadainaa from the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.).” The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) replied, “Two thousand years before the creation of man, the Almighty Allah wrote this verse on a dry leaf and hung it in the heaven and then gave a call, ‘O Ummah of Muhammad! My mercy precedes My anger. I grant you before you ask. I forgive you before you repent.

If one of you meets Me and bears witness that there is no Lord except Me and that Muhammad is My servant and messenger I will make him enter Paradise through My mercy’.”
