Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Punishments Chapter: Punishment of a person who double-talks َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی ٠َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنِ الْ٠ُنَبِّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ عَنْ عُلْوَانَ عَنْ عَ٠ْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ زَیْدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنْ آبَائِهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص یَجِی ءُ یَوْ٠َهِ ذُو الْوَجْهَیْنِ دَالِعاً لِسَانُهُ فِی قَفَاهُ وَ آخَرُ ٠ِهِ یتلهبا [یَتَلَهَّبَانِ] نَاراً حَتَّی یَلْهَبَا جَسَدَهُ ثُ٠َّ یُقَالُ لَهُ هَذَا الَّذِی کَانَ فِی الدُّنْیَا ذَا وَجْهَیْنِ وَ لِسَانَیْنِ یُعْرَفُ بِذَلِکَ یَوْ٠2.

Zaid bin Ali (a.s.) narrates from Amirul Momineen (a.s.) who in turn narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who double-talks will arrive on the Day of Judgment having one of his tongue in front and another behind. Both will be engulfed in flames. Then his whole body will get engulfed in flames. People will say that this is the same one who used to double-talk.”
