Chapter: The Rewards and the Merits of Establishing Prayers in the Mosque of Kūfah and the Mosque of Sahlah َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِي٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ نَجْ٠ٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (ع) قَالَ لَوْ يَعْلَ٠َسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ لَأَعَدُّوا لَهُ الزَّادَ وَ الرَّاحِلَةَ ٠َكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ وَ قَالَ صَلَاةٌ فَرِيضَةٌ فِيهِ تَعْدِلُ حِجَّةً وَ نَافِلَةٌ فِيهِ تَعْدِلُ عُ٠3.

Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan ibn Walīd narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan Al-Saffār, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad, from Faďl ibn Zakariyyā, from Najm ibn Ḥuťaym, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: If people knew the merits of the Mosque of Kūfah, they would prepare to travel to it from far distances.

Praying an obligatory prayer in the Mosque of Kūfah is equal to performing a Hajj, and praying a recommended prayer in it is equal to performing an ‘Umrah.
