[1] Surah Al-Maida takes its’ name from verse 5:112 in which the word mai’dah occurs. Like the names of many other surahs, this name has no special relation to the subject of the Surah but has been used merely as a symbol to distinguish it from other surahs. إِذْ قَالَ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَنْ يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ۖ قَالَ اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ When the disciples said: ‘O Isa son of Maryam!

Does your Lord have the capacity to Send down upon us food from the sky? He said: ‘Fear Allah, if you were Momineen [5:112]. It is narrated from the 9 th Imam -asws regarding His -azwj Words: O you who believe! Fulfil the agreements. [5:1] . He -asws said: ‘Rasool-Allah -saww had made a pact upon them for Ali -asws regarding the caliphate in twenty places, then Allah -azwj Revealed: O you who believe! Fulfil the agreements. [5:1] which have been pacted upon you all for Amir Al-Momineen -asws ’’.

[2] Imam Ja’far -asws , from his -asws father -asws regarding His -azwj Words: Today I Perfected your Religion for you and Completed My Favour upon you, [5:3] . He -asws said: ‘It was Revealed regarding Ali -asws Bin Abu Talib -asws in particular, and not about the rest of the people’’.
