[3] ‘I heard Abu Ja’far -asws saying: ‘When Allah -azwj the Exalted Revealed: Today I Perfected your Religion for you and Completed My Favour upon you, [5:3] . He -asws said: ‘So, the perfection of the religion was by Wilayah of Ali -asws Bin Abu Talib -asws ’’. Know, that there is a door for Allah -azwj , one who enters it would be secure from the Fire!’ Abu Saeed Al-Khudry stood up to him -saww and said, ‘O Rasool-Allah -saww ! Guide us to this door until we recognise it’. He -saww said: ‘It is Ali -asws Bin Abu Talib -asws , chief of the successors -asws , and Amir Al-Momineen -asws , and brother -asws of the Rasool -saww of Lord -azwj of the words, and His -azwj caliph upon the people in their entirety’. Community of the people!

One who loved to recognise the Divine Authority after me -saww , let him recognise Ali -asws Bin Abu Talib -asws . Community of people! One whom it cheers to have the Wilayah of Allah -azwj , let him be led by Ali -asws Bin Abu Talib -asws and the Imams -asws from my -saww offspring. They -asws are treasurers of my -saww knowledge!’ Jabir Bin Abdullah Al-Ansari, may Allah -azwj be Pleased with him, stood up and said, ‘O Rasool-Allah -saww !

And what is the number of the Imams -asws ?’ He -saww said: ‘O Jabir! May Allah -azwj have Mercy on you! You have asked me -saww about Al-Islam in its entirety. Their -asws number is the number of the months, and it is in the Presence of Allah -azwj as, the number of months in the Presence of Allah is twelve months in the Book of Allah, the day He Created the skies and the earth [9:36] .

And their -asws number is the number of the spring which burst forth for Musa -as Bin Imran -as when he -saww struck with his -as staff: So there gushed out from it twelve springs; each group knew its drinking place: [2:60] . And their number is of the captains of the children of Israel. Allah -azwj the Exalted Said: and We Sent from them twelve chieftains; [5:12] . So, the Imams -asws , O Jabir, their -asws first one is Ali -asws Bin Abu Talib -asws and their -asws last one is Al-Qaim -asws ’’.

[5] It was said to Abu Ja’far -asws . Isn’t this command for you -asws all?’ He -asws said: ‘Yes’.
