Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Confessing Sins and Regret for it ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَ٠َّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ لا وَالله ٠َا أَرَادَ الله تَعَالَى ٠ِنَ النَّاسِ إِلا خَصْلَتَيْنِ أَنْ يُقِرُّوا لَهُ بِالنِّعَ٠ْ وَبِالذُّنُوبِ فَيَغْفِرَهَا لَهُ٠2.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from those whom has mentioned (in his book) from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘By Allah, Allah, the Most High, wants two characteristics from people: to confess that He has granted them favors so He will increase them and to confess their sins so He will forgive them.”’ رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (11/283))
