Al-Kāfi - The Book of Supplication Chapter: Supplications for Sustenance َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّرِ بْنِ خَلادٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠ِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ نَظَرَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) إِلَى رَجُلٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ الله٠َّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ ٠ِنْ رِزْقِكَ الْحَلالِ فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) سَأَلْتَ قُوتَ النَّبِيِّينَ قُلِ الله٠َّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقاً حَلالاً وَاسِعاً طَيِّباً ٠8.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Mu’ammar ibn Khallad who has said the following: “I heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.) saying, ‘Once abu Ja’far (a.s.) looked upon a man who was saying, “O Lord, I plead before You for lawful sustenance.” Abu Ja’far (a.s.) said to him, ‘You are asking the sustenance of the prophets, say, “O Lord, I plead before You for lawful sustenance from You that is vast and pure.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/391))
