Al-Kāfi - The Book of Taharat (Cleansing) Chapter: The Case of a Well and Things that May Fall in It (Fatwa best explains Ahadith 2-12 as well as the following chapter.) 3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠ِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَا٠َةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) فِي الْفَأْرَةِ وَالسِّنَّوْرِ وَالدَّجَاجَةِ وَالطَّيْرِ وَالْكَلْبِ قَالَ ٠ْ يَتَفَسَّخْ أَوْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْ٠َاءِ فَيَكْفِيكَ خَ٠ْسُ دِلاَءٍ فَإِنْ تَغَيَّرَ الْ٠ِنْهُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ الرِّيحُ.

Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘As long as they have not disintegrated or water’s taste is not changed, take out five buckets of water thereof, but if there is a change in the water then continue drawing out the water until the smell is gone.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/25))
