Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Excellence of the Great Masjid of Kufah, Excellence of Performing Salah (prayer) and the Loveable places Therein 9ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ السِّنْدِيِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْ٠َنِ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَا٠َةَ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠َسْجِدُ كُوفَانَ رَوْضَةٌ ٠ِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ صَلَّى فِيهِ أَلْفُ نَبِيٍّ وَسَبْعُونَ نَبِيّاً وَ٠َكْرٌ فِيهِ عَصَا ٠ُوسَى وَشَجَرَةُ يَقْطِينٍ وَخَاتَ٠ِنْهُ فَارَ التَّنُّورُ وَنُجِرَتِ السَّفِينَةُ وَهِيَ صُرَّةُ بَابِلَ وَ٠َعُ الأنْبِيَاءِ (عَلَيْهِ٠9.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Salih al-Sindiy from Ja‘far ibn Bashir from abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Hadhdha’ from abu ‘Usamah from abu ‘Ubaydah who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘The Masjid of Kufah is a garden of the gardens of paradise. One thousand seventy prophets performed Salah (prayer) in it. Its right side houses blessing and its left side lodges wickedness.

In it are the staff of Moses, the squash plant (mentioned in the holy Quran) and the ring of Sulayman (Solomon). The oven of Noah from which water gushed forth was there and the Ark was carved there from.
