Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: Prohibition of Saying ‘Ramadan’ Instead of the ‘Month of Ramadan’ َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْخَثْعَ٠ِيِّ عَنْ غِيَاثِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ أَبِيهِ (عَلَيْهِ٠ِنِينَ صَلَوَاتُ الله عَلَيْهِ لا تَقُولُوا رَ٠َضَانَ وَلَكِنْ قُولُوا شَهْرُ رَ٠َضَانَ فَإِنَّكُ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn Yahya al- Khath’amiy form Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah, has narrated from his father (a.s.), who has said that ’Amir al- Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not say, “Ramadan.” Say the month of Ramadan; you do not know what Ramadan is.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (6/212))
