Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: The Time of Breaking Fast after Sunset 3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) قَالَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الإِفْطَارِ قَبْلَ الصَّلاةِ أَوْ بَعْدَهَا قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ ٠ٌ يَخْشَى أَنْ يَحْبِسَهُ٠ْ عَنْ عَشَائِهِ٠ْ وَإِنْ كَانَ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ فَلْيُصَلِّ وَلْيُفْطِرْ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘If he (the Imam) is afraid of keeping them from their dinner, first it is breaking fast with them; otherwise, first is Salat (prayer), then it is breaking the fast.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/270))
