Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: Expiation for Harming Birds and Eggs in the State of al-’Ihram َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَ٠ْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَتَلَ فَرْخاً وَهُوَ ٠ٌ فِي غَيْرِ الْحَرَ٠ِ فَقَالَ عَلَيْهِ حَ٠َلٌ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ قِي٠َةٌ لأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي الْحَرَ٠6.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who in the state of Ihram kills a chick in non-al-Haram (the sacred area).

He (the Imam) said, ‘He owes one lamb and he does not have to pay its cost because it is not in al-Haram (the sacred area).”’ شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (17/380))
