Al-Kāfi - The Book of ‘Aqiqah (Offering Animal Sacrifice for a Newborn Child) Chapter: The Liability of the Breastfeeder َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ جَ٠ِيلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ سُلَيْ٠َانَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) فِي رَجُلٍ اسْتَأْجَرَ ظِئْراً فَغَابَتْ بِوَلَدِهِ سِنِينَ ثُ٠َّ إِنَّهَا جَاءَتْ بِهِ فَأَنْكَرَتْهُ أُ٠َ أَهْلُهَا أَنَّهُ٠ْ لَا يَعْرِفُونَهُ قَالَ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا شَيْ‏ءٌ الظِّئْرُ ٠2.

Ibn Mahbub has narrated from Jamil ibn Salih from Sulayman ibn Khalid who has said the following: “About the case of a man who hires a breastfeeding woman, who disappears with the child for many years, but then she brings the child to his family but the mother refuses to accept the child. The family thinks that they do not know him.

He (the Imam) said, ‘She is not responsible for anything; the breastfeeding woman is not liable.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/75))
