Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: A Man’s Finding Comfort in the House of His Brother (in belief) عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) ٠َةِ الرَّجُلِ لِأَخِيهِ أَنْ يَقْبَلَ تُحْفَتَهُ وَ أَنْ يُتْحِفَهُ بِ٠َا عِنْدَهُ وَ لَا يَتَكَلَّفَ لَهُ شَيْئاً وَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِنِّي لَا أُحِبُّ الْ٠1.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from af-Nawfafiy from af-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Of a man’s honoring his brother (in belief) is to accept his gift and present him a gift of what he has and should not overburden himself.’ The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘I do not like those who overburden and strain themselves.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/81))
