Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Wearing al-Khazz (fur or skin of an animal that lives in water) أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْ٠َنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) رَجُلٌ وَ أَنَا عِنْدَهُ عَنْ جُلُودِ الْخَزِّ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ بِهَا بَأْسٌ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّهَا فِي بِلَادِي وَ إِنَّ٠َا هِيَ كِلَابٌ تَخْرُجُ ٠َاءِ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) إِذَا خَرَجَتْ ٠َاءِ تَعِيشُ خَارِجَةً ٠َاءِ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ لَا قَالَ فَلَا بَأْسَ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Its use is not unlawful.’ He then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, in our land they are dogs that come out of the water.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘When they come out of the water do they then live on land?’ The man replied, ‘No, they do not live on land.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Its use is not unlawful.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/330))
