Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) طِيبُ النِّسَاءِ ٠َا ظَهَرَ لَوْنُهُ وَ خَفِيَ رِيحُهُ وَ طِيبُ الرِّجَالِ ٠َا ظَهَرَ رِيحُهُ وَ خَفِيَ لَوْنُهُ.

‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “Perfume for women is that which shows its color but hides its fragrance, and the perfume for men is that which spreads its fragrance but its color does not show.’”” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/417))
