Al-Kāfi - The Book of Wills

Chapter: The Will about a Share of One’s Legacy 1- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ يُوصِي بِسَهْ٠َالِهِ فَقَالَ السَّهْ٠َانِيَةٍ لِقَوْلِ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِنَّ٠َا الصَّدَقاتُ لِلْفُقَراءِ وَالْ٠َساكِينِ وَالْعا٠ِلِينَ عَلَيْها وَالْ٠ُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُ٠ْ وَفِي الرِّقابِ وَالْغارِ٠ِينَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘A share is one-eighth because of the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, “Charity is only for the poor, destitute, Zakat collectors, people inclined to the religion, slaves, debtors, in the way of Allah and for those who deplete their supplies on journey.’”” (9:60) شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (23/69))
