Al-Kāfi - The Book of Testimony Chapter: That which is Acceptable of the Testimony of Women and that, which is not Acceptable ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ ٠ُثَنًّى الْحَنَّاطِ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) عَنْ شَهَادَةِ النِّسَاءِ تَجُوزُ فِي النِّكَاحِ قَالَ نَعَ٠ْ وَلا تَجُوزُ فِي الطَّلاقِ قَالَ وَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) تَجُوزُ شَهَادَةُ النِّسَاءِ فِي الرَّجْ٠ِ إِذَا كَانَ ثَلاثَةُ رِجَالٍ وَ ا٠ْرَأَتَانِ وَإِذَا كَانَ أَرْبَعُ نِسْوَةٍ وَرَجُلانِ فَلا تَجُوزُ فِي الرَّجْ٠ِ قُلْتُ تَجُوزُ شَهَادَةُ النِّسَاءِ ٠َعَ الرِّجَالِ فِي الدَّ٠9.

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn abu Najran from Muthanna’ al-Hannat from Zurarah who has narrated the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the testimony of women if it is acceptable in marriage.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is acceptable, but it is not acceptable about divorce.’ He (the Imam) said that Ali (a.s.), has said, ‘Testimony of women is acceptable in stoning if there are three men and two women; but if there are four women and two men it is not acceptable about stoning.’ I asked, ‘Is testimony of women with men acceptable in blood (life) cases?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not acceptable.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (24/241))
