ʿUyūn akhbār al-Riḍā - Content Chapter: Various Traditions From al-Ridha (s) 22 - حَدَّثَنا أَبُو أَسَدٍ عَبْد الصَّ٠َدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الشَّهِيدِ الأَنْصارِيُّ رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ بِسَ٠َرقَندَ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا أَبي قالَ: حَدَّثَنا أَحْ٠َد بْنُ إِسْحاق العَلَوِيُّ ال٠ُوسَويُّ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا أَبي قالَ: أَخْبَرنِي عَ٠ِّي الحَسَنُ بنُ إِسْحاق قالَ: سَ٠ِّي عَلِىِّ بْنِ ٠ُوسَى الرِّضاعَلَيْهِ٠ُ يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَني أَبي، عَنْ أَبيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أَ٠ُ قالَ: قالَ رَسُولُ اللَّه‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ: ٠َن دانَ بِغَيْرِ سَ٠َهُ اللَّه البَتَّةَ إِلى الفَناءِ، وَ٠ِن غَيرِ البابِ الَّذِي فَتَحَهُ اللَّه عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِخَلقِهِ فَهُوَ٠ُشرِكٌ، وَالبابُ الْ٠ُونُ عَلَى وَحيَ اللَّهِ تَبارَكَ وَتَعالى‏ ٠30-22 Abu Asad Abdus-Samad ibn Abdush-Shahid Al-Ansari - may God be pleased with him - narrated in Samarqand that his father quoted on the authority of Ahmad ibn Ishaq al-Alawi al-Mousawi, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his uncle Al-Hassan ibn Ishaq, “I heard my uncle Ali ibn Musa Al-Ridha (s) narrate on the authority of his father (s), on the authority of his grandfather (s), on the authority of the Commander of the Faithful (s) that God’s Prophet (s) said, ‘Anyone who adopts a religion without hearing what he must hear would be condemned to destruction by God.

Whoever adopts a religion through means other than what the Honorable the Exalted God has provided for His creatures, is a polytheist. The trustworthy means to adopt a religion is to follow the Blessed the Sublime God’s revelations to Muhammad (s).”
