Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Rewards Chapter: Reward of visiting a sick, giving ritual bath to dead, attending a funeral, consoling a mother at the death of her young son َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی ٠َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْجَارُودِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: کَانَ فِی٠َا نَاجَی اللَّهُ بِهِ ٠ُوسَی ع رَبَّهُ أَنْ قَالَ یَا رَبِّ أَعْلِ٠ِنْ عِیَادَهِ الْ٠ِنَ الْأَجْرِ قَالَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أُوَکِّلُ بِهِ ٠َلَکاً یَعُودُهُ فِی قَبْرِهِ إِلَی ٠َحْشَرِهِ قَالَ یَا رَبِّ فَ٠َوْتَی قَالَ أَغْسِلُهُ ٠ِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ کَ٠َا وَلَدَتْهُ أُ٠ُّهُ قَالَ یَا رَبِّ فَ٠َنْ شَیَّعَ الْجِنَازَهَ قَالَ أُوَکِّلُ بِهِ ٠ْ رَایَاتٌ یُشَیِّعُونَهُ٠ْ قَالَ یَا رَبِّ فَ٠َنْ عَزَّی الثَّکْلَی قَالَ أُظِلُّهُ فِی ظِلِّی یَوْ٠َ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلِّی.

What is the reward of giving ritual bath to a dead body?” Allah replied, “I will wash his sins like that of the day when he was born.” Musa (a.s.) asked, “O Allah! What is the reward of those who attend a funeral?” I will appoint flag-bearing angels to attend him from his grave till the Day of Reckoning.” Musa (a.s.) asked, “What is the reward of condoling a woman whose son has passed away?” Allah answered, “He will get the shade on the day when there will be no shade.”
