Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from ibn abu Nasr from âAbd al-Karim from abu Basir who has said the following: âI once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Jaâfar or abu âAbd Allah), âAlayhim al-Salam, about a man for al-Tamattuâ (advantageous) who cannot find an offering animal until the day for departure when he finds enough funds to buy a sheep, should he slaughter or fast?
He (the Imam) said, âHe must fast; the days for slaughtering have passed.ââ ÙØ«Ù - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (18/197))
